Done well, VMI can transform the relationship between a customer and a supplier and bring significant tangible benefits to both. In our experience, it ONLY works well when a mutual respect exists between both parties, and where both have “something to gain” from the arrangement. Done badly, it seldom works for very long and is usually fraught with problems for the customer.

Our VMI offering is intended to be flexible and respect each customer’s level of comfort. For some of our customers, it is enough that our envoys visit a single location on their premises, conduct a stock-take, and submit an order-acknowledgement for approval to replenish to “maximum”. At the other end of the scale, we have customers who have installed multiple remote vending machines which manage the entire stock issue process and ping an order directly into our ERP system over night. It’s fair to say that there is a sliding scale of VMI involvement between those two examples in place with some of our customers today.

Envoy Managed Solutions

Envoy Managed Level 1

Our envoy will visit your site to a pre-agreed schedule. They will follow your site reception rules and register their attendance. They will observe all health and safety requirements and wear all necessary PPE during their visit. They will access a pre-agreed stock holding location and conduct a thorough inventory check against pre-agreed maximum/minimum stock levels. They will conduct any housekeeping or stock rotation required before they leave the site. They will again observe your site reception rules and register their departure. Subsequently, a report will be submitted to a pre-agreed site contact for approval before the stock is replenished at pre-agreed prices.

Envoy Managed Level 2

Our envoy will visit your site to a pre-agreed schedule. They will follow your site reception rules and register their attendance. They will observe all health and safety requirements and wear all necessary PPE during their visit. They will access multiple pre-agreed production cells and conduct thorough inventory checks against pre-agreed maximum/minimum stock levels at each cell. They will conduct any product housekeeping or stock rotation required at each cell before they leave the site. They will again observe your site reception rules and register their departure. Subsequently, they will revist site and restock to maximum levels ensuring high standards of product housekeeping are maintained at each cell. A delivery note will be submitted before the envoy leaves, enabling random independent verification by the customer.
